- Premium is now Pro, a one-time $4.99 purchase rather than a subscription. See what Pro covers.
- Anyone who subscribed to Premium keeps Pro for good. The subscriptions are being retired and will stop renewing. See the FAQ.
- Remove Ads is now $1.99, reduced from $8.99.
- Streak repairs are sold in packs of ten for $0.99, at any time from Settings → Add-ons. Pro includes one free repair a month. See streak repair.
New
- Your zip code now names your U.S. Representative. Most zip codes sit inside a single district and are answered outright. The rest list the districts your zip code covers and you pick yours once. See the FAQ.
- Use My Current Location in the district picker checks where you are against a map stored on your device. Your location is not saved or sent anywhere. See choosing your district.
- Puerto Rico, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa and the Northern Mariana Islands can be chosen as where you live, with the answers USCIS gives for them. See state selection.
- The elected officials are refreshed for 2026. House members appear under the names the Clerk of the House lists, and Puerto Rico’s member as its Resident Commissioner.
- On the Elected Officials screen, tap the civics question under an official to open that question in Study.
- With Pro, an activity grid shows the days you studied on the Progress tab. Without Pro, a locked Study Activity card takes its place. See study activity grid.
- A streak repair bridges a day or two you missed. The Progress tab offers one when your streak has a gap. Pro includes one free repair each month, and anyone can buy more in Settings → Add-ons. See streak repair.
- Multiple Choice shows its options in your language. Grading still uses the English answers. See Multiple Choice.
- You can leave a civics test and finish it later. Save & Exit and Discard & Exit work in Tap and Interview tests, and a saved interview resumes in Interview Mode. See leaving a test.
- Interview Mode says what it needs before you start. An Enable button shows until the microphone and speech recognition are allowed. See before you start.
- Count as Correct overrules Interview Mode when it marks a right answer wrong. See how answers are graded.
- VoiceOver announces results and moves to what comes next, and Voice Control answers to the words on screen. See VoiceOver and Voice Control.
- Text scales to twice its size and beyond without being cut off, and Reduce Motion swaps flips and confetti for fades. See larger text.
- Stronger contrast, dark handwriting paper in dark mode, and a checkmark or a cross where color alone showed pass or fail. See color and contrast.
Fixed
- Questions about your officials answer correctly. Named officials like the President are filled in rather than showing placeholder text, and entering a zip code now sets your state. See state selection.
- The widget answers the location questions and follows your language choice. Tapping a question opens the right one for your test version.
- Study streaks count every day you study. Previously the streak stayed at 0 with Pro, and flashcards and verbal practice never counted. Your streak is rebuilt from saved history when you update. See study streaks.
- Streak milestones and achievement notifications work.
- The questions match the current USCIS lists. Juneteenth is among the 2008 test’s holidays, the 2025 test asks for five of the 13 original states, and the Statue of Liberty’s answers are separate. See test versions.
- Multiple Choice wrong options are wrong. Options that were in fact right are replaced, and a right option no longer stands out by its look.
- Interview Mode grades answers the way USCIS means them, taking optional words, numbers said as words, other tenses, small slips and every name form USCIS lists for current officials. See how answers are graded.
- Questions play aloud with your iPhone set to silent.
- Recording is more dependable. iOS asks for the microphone before recording starts, a recording that hears nothing stops after 10 seconds, and a failed recording says why instead of scoring 0%. See the reading test.
- Fewer full-screen ads. None after your first test, and at most one every three tests, 10 minutes apart. See Remove Ads.
- VoiceOver names every icon-only button by what it does. Selected states and modes announce their selection, and text at accessibility sizes wraps instead of being cut off. See accessibility.
- The zip code keyboard can be dismissed with a Done button above the keypad.
- Save & Exit and Discard & Exit in a reading or writing test return to the start screen, and so does Done on the results.
- The English-only button is hidden when the app is in English, where it did nothing.
- Verbal study’s shuffle keeps the official question order when turned off.
- Your language reaches screens that stayed in English, including test history, the setup summary and the Elected Officials screen, along with Tagalog, Chinese and Vietnamese fixes.
